Robyn Rich
Robyn Rich is a Melbourne-based artist who works from her home studio, dedicated to telling the stories of others while striving to find the courage to express her own thoughts and feelings.
Inspired by the delicate and secretive Georgian Lover’s Eye miniatures, she creates contemporary interpretations painted within vintage spoons and tins. These eyes depict people from today, bridging past and present by capturing contemporary gazes in the style of historical portraiture.
By merging vintage materials with traditional techniques, Robyn explores themes of gaze, identity, emotion, and memory, transforming ordinary items into vessels of personal connection and hidden sentiment.
The spoons and tins, with their unique patina and history, add layers of nostalgia and narrative, inviting viewers to contemplate the power of a single, unblinking gaze.
